The Busy Beavers of Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge

View this post on Instagram

After indulging in our Polar Whip food, we drove around Devil's Kitchen and Little Grassy Lakes in the Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge. Josh searched online for info and read somewhere (unverified source) that beavers damming up an area caused the water flow to eventually become Devil's Kitchen Lake. Actual conversation from our vehicle: Mija: There's no way beavers could have made that! Josh: No, not that. That's concrete… . (In retrospect, driving around a lake called devil's kitchen on Friday the 13th with a full moon might not have been the most well thought out plan. ) #asliceofsouthernillinois #thingstoseeinsouthernillinois #littlegrassy #craborchard #devilskitchen
